Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Friday said Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra should at least probe the allegations of dismissed police official Eduardo Acierto and hooded video narrator “Bikoy” before going after them.
"Sec. Guevarra should slowdown on his crackdown on whistle-blowers linking Duterte and Bong Go to ill*gal dr*gs lest he himself be s*spected of protecting dr*glords," Trillanes said in a press statement.
"Sec. Guevarra must first investigate and disprove the allegations of both Col. Acierto and 'Bikoy' before he could say that their statements are untrue," he added.
Trillanes issued the statement after the National Bureau of Investigation arrested Rodel Jayme, the registrant and administrator of a website that shared the videos "Ang Totoong Narcolist."
In the videos, a certain "Bikoy," who claimed he was a former drug syndic*te member, alleged, among others, that President Rodrigo Duterte's son, Paolo Duterte, and former Duterte top aide, Bong Go, had received millions of pesos in kickbacks from ill*gal dr*g syndic*tes.
Guevarra has said that Jayme and "Bikoy" are "not necessarily one and the same person" and that authorities do not yet know the exact identity of the latter.
Malacañang earlier offered P10 million for information leading to the arrest of Acierto, who is wanted by a court in connection with the billions of pesos worth of sm*ggled sh*bu found concealed in magnetic lifters seized last year.
Acierto claimed that Michael Yang, a former presidential adviser, was involved in the ill*gal dr*g trade.
President Duterte has vouched for Yang’s innocence.
In a separate statement, detained Senator Leila de Lima asked why the government is zeroing in on Acierto and “Bikoy.”
"Ano ang kinatatakutan nila? Dahil ba hawak nina Acierto at 'Bikoy' ang katotohanan?" she said.
She further said if the statements of Acierto and 'Bikoy' were not true, why is the government exerting effort, time, and resources for them.
"Kasi kung imbento lang yung mga expose nila, bakit pinag-aaksayahan ng pera, pagod, at panahon ng mga awtoridad ang dalawang ito," said De Lima, an opposition senator detained over dr*g-related charges.
"Magnilay-nilay po tayo sa mga nakakabahalang mga kaganapan na ito. Maging mapanuri. Maging alerto," she added.
